About Werner
Werner Halter founded Climate Services in Fribourg in 2013 and runs it as director. The company measures the carbon footprint of businesses and public bodies and helps them cut it: CO2 assessments, reduction plans, support with certification, climate plans for municipalities, mobility plans and sustainability reporting. Its clients range from SMEs to large companies and public institutions, served across Switzerland through a network of partners.
He came to climate work from the earth sciences. Halter studied geology at the University of Lausanne and earned a doctorate in geochemistry at McGill University in Montreal. Back in Switzerland he worked as a postdoc and assistant professor in geology at the University of Lausanne and ETH Zurich.
From 2008 to 2013 he ran Swiss Climate, a CO2 management company in Bern. Then he started his own.
