About Urs
Urs Kapalle is Head of Tax Strategy at the Swiss Bankers Association. By 2015 he was already the association's director for financial policy and taxes.
His work spans international and domestic tax questions. In articles for the association he has argued for Switzerland's adoption of the OECD minimum tax, warned against weakening legal protection in international administrative assistance in tax matters, and explained what a Federal Supreme Court ruling after the cum-ex fraud means for refunds to foreign investors.
He also writes about the Swiss capital market, including a 2020 article in Die Volkswirtschaft on the missed opportunities there. In 2016 he argued publicly that banks should still be able to deduct fines from their taxes.
