
About Rahul
Rahul Sahgal is CEO of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce. He took over in 2024 from Martin Naville, who had led the chamber for twenty years. His public work centres on trade between Switzerland and the United States, US tariffs and Swiss investment in the US.
He studied business administration and law at the University of St. Gallen and earned his doctorate there with a thesis on how Swiss companies decide on direct investment in India. His career started in consulting, including at Deloitte in Zurich. In 2006 he joined Rieter in India and later headed the Indian business of Autoneum, the company spun off from Rieter. He also led the northern region of the Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce.
In 2013 he moved into the Swiss diplomatic service, first at the Mission to the EU in Brussels and then in the Human Security Division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. From 2017 to 2021 he headed financial and fiscal affairs at the Swiss Embassy in Washington. He then became deputy head of the tax division at the State Secretariat for International Finance, where he stayed until 2024.
