Oliver Peter

Oliver Peter co-founded the SiLA consortium (Standardization in Laboratory Automation) in 2008 and is its president. SiLA develops open standards that let laboratory instruments and software from different vendors work together. Alongside this he works as a freelance consultant on drug discovery, the digitalisation of research and development, automation, sample logistics and biobanking.

His career began in small-molecule drug discovery in 2002 at Axovan, followed by Actelion and Idorsia Pharmaceuticals. From 2008 he built and led the automated high-throughput screening and compound management facility and the research biobank for translational science, latterly as senior director for biology technologies and lead discovery at Idorsia. In 2023 and 2024 he worked at Molecular Partners, first as a consultant and then as director of research digitalisation.

Peter holds a PhD in molecular developmental biology from the University of Zurich.
