About Masoud

Masoud Talebi Amiri is co-founder and CEO of Qaptis, an EPFL spin-off on the Valais campus in Sion that develops modular carbon capture for hard-to-abate sources such as trucks, ships, boilers and furnaces. The company was founded in 2021.

Qaptis started with trucks. Its system captures CO2 at the exhaust and liquefies it on board, which can cut a truck's emissions by up to 90 percent. The core technology comes from EPFL's Industrial Process and Energy Systems Engineering laboratory. The prototype produced its first liquid CO2 in 2023, followed by a pilot with a freight carrier in Tolochenaz. Investors include BlackWood, Cargill and YB Startup. Qaptis was among the Venture Leaders Cleantech in 2023 and the top ten newcomers of the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award in 2024.

Talebi Amiri is a chemical engineer. He studied at Sharif University of Technology and took his master's at EPFL, where he also earned his doctorate in 2019 with a thesis on the production of stabilised lignin.
