
About Maria-Theresia
Maria-Theresia Zwyssig is an adventurer, speaker and editor at Weber Verlag in Gwatt near Thun, where she runs the magazine "ThunerseeLiebi". She also produces podcasts for NIESENwelle and gives talks across Switzerland. Before joining the publisher she worked in local radio for ten years.
Her journeys add up to more than 30,000 kilometres by bicycle through 44 countries. In 2013 and 2014 she cycled alone from Switzerland to Nepal, about 15,000 kilometres through 20 countries. In 2018 and 2019 she walked the Great Himalaya Trail across Nepal, 1,711 kilometres in a single season. She has also paddled the Po by kayak to Venice and cycled around Iceland.
The documentary "The Great Himalaya Trail" by Sven Allenbach follows that trek. It was nominated at the Mountain Film Festival in Graz in 2020. Zwyssig has appeared on SRF programmes such as "Aeschbacher", "Jetzt oder nie" and "Persönlich".
In her talks she speaks about pushing her own limits and finding new horizons outside the comfort zone.
