
About Laurent
Laurent Balmelli is general manager for Secure Development Spaces at Citrix and has co-founded two Swiss software security companies. He studied computer science at EPFL and earned his PhD in communication systems there under Martin Vetterli in 2000.
He then spent eleven years at IBM Research in New York and Tokyo, working on computer graphics and on SysML, the modelling language for systems engineering. In 2014 he co-founded Strong.codes in Yverdon-les-Bains, which protected software against reverse engineering and was later sold to Snap. In 2020 he co-founded Strong Network in Lausanne with Ozrenko Dragic to build secure cloud development environments. Citrix acquired the company in 2024.
He teaches SysML at Keio University in Tokyo.
