
About Joschka
Joschka J. Proksik is a political scientist and Senior Researcher at the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute in Rüschlikon. He studies geopolitical shifts and economic dependencies, with a focus on critical resources, global trade and strategic technologies.
He holds a PhD in political science in the fields of political economy, international relations and the regulation of natural resources. He has worked with the University of Konstanz, ETH Zurich, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the Geneva Graduate Institute. His field work took him to Africa, Asia, Latin America, the United States and the Western Balkans.
Several of his papers look at public health in large-scale mining. With colleagues he has studied the room for policy reform in Burkina Faso, in a 2023 paper in Resources Policy, and in Tanzania, in a 2026 paper in BMC Public Health.
