About Erol
Erol Bilecen heads Sustainable Finance at the Swiss Bankers Association, a role he took on in 2024 as successor to Hans-Ruedi Mosberger. He is responsible for the association's positions on sustainability in banking.
He came from Raiffeisen Switzerland, where he worked from 2016. From 2021 he led its competence centre for sustainability in pensions and investments and designed how ESG criteria were built into Raiffeisen's investment and pension products.
In interviews and op-eds with finews he has argued that fundamental change in the industry needs time and a stable operating environment, and that the banks' self-regulation against greenwashing shows regulation can work without the state. He has also called for the Swiss CO2 levy to be extended to transport fuels, provided the revenue is redistributed fairly.
