About Emelie
Emelie Emanuelsson is sustainability project manager in the Smart Infrastructure business of Siemens Switzerland, where her work focuses on circularity. She is an engineer with an MSc in design and product development from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, completed in 2011.
Before returning to Siemens in Switzerland, where she had worked earlier in her career, she spent several years at Volvo Cars. She joined in 2015 as a product owner working on air quality, later became a solution business owner and explored circular and as-a-service business models in R&D.
She co-founded the Womengineer Foundation with a university friend. It began as a blog in 2008, and she led it full-time as CEO from 2020. In 2014 she initiated Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day in Sweden. By 2020 it had grown from 13 companies to 83 organisations at 141 locations, and it has reached more than 20,000 girls and non-binary young people aged 13 to 19.
