CEO and Co-Founder at Bonescreen

About Anjany

Anjany Sekuboyina is CEO and co-founder of Bonescreen, a Munich company that uses AI to detect osteoporosis in CT scans taken for other reasons. Its CE-marked software SpineQ measures bone mineral density and finds vertebral fractures in existing spine CT images, so bone loss can be picked up without an extra examination.

Bonescreen was founded in 2022 by six co-founders as a spin-off from a research group at Klinikum rechts der Isar, the university hospital of the Technical University of Munich. It received a EUR 1.5 million co-investment from EIT Health in 2023 and won the EIT Health Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award in 2024. In 2026 Sekuboyina, Dominik Maurer and Jan Kirschke received the Award for Innovation in Medical Technology from VDE DGBMT and the Klee family foundation.

His research background is in medical image analysis. He was first author of VerSe, a benchmark for labelling and segmenting vertebrae in CT images, which he co-organised as a challenge at MICCAI in 2019 and 2020 and published in Medical Image Analysis in 2021.
