About André

André Wyss has been chairman of the board of directors of SBB, the Swiss Federal Railways, since 2026, succeeding Monika Ribar. He brings around 40 years of leadership experience in pharma, construction and real estate.

He spent more than 30 years at Novartis, starting as an apprentice in plant and laboratory work and rising to the executive committee. His roles there included head of drug product manufacturing Europe, head of global R&D controlling at Novartis Pharma, country president for Switzerland and finally president of Novartis Operations. In 2018 he left Novartis to become CEO of the construction and real estate group Implenia, which he led until 2025.

After his apprenticeship in chemistry Wyss studied business part-time at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and later attended executive programmes at Harvard Business School. He sits on the shareholders' council of E. Merck KG and on the advisory board of the Executive School of the University of St. Gallen.
