About Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce
The Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce (SJCC) is an association that promotes trade and economic contacts between Switzerland and Japan. It was founded in Zurich in 1985. In 2026 it described its network as around 300 members.
The chamber organises dinner presentations, business seminars, company visits and after-work events across Switzerland. Fixed points in its calendar are the Shinnenkai, a New Year event in January, and the annual general meeting with a keynote speaker. The Ambassador of Japan to Switzerland is its honorary chairman.
Since 1988 the SJCC has run a scholarship fund that sends Swiss residents under 30 to Japan for a year of language training and a company internship; by 2026, 225 scholars had received support. Its Young Professionals group, founded in 2002 as an alumni organisation, looks after newly arrived scholars in Japan. The chamber also acts as secretariat of the parliamentary friendship group Switzerland–Japan in the Federal Assembly and works with its sister chamber, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ).
