Sustainable Switzerland

Sustainable Switzerland is the sustainability initiative of the Swiss media group NZZ, run together with partners from business and science. NZZ launched it in 2022 with an online portal of the same name.

Its core is journalism on the transition to a sustainable economy and society. The articles appear on the portal and on nzz.ch, in selected formats of NZZ am Sonntag and in a newsletter. Around this, the initiative runs a Solutions Hub with practical tools and training, an Entrepreneurs Club and an annual forum organised by NZZ's events unit.

The forum started in 2022 under the name Swiss Sustainability Forum and was held in Bern for its first editions. In 2025 it introduced the Sustainable Shapers award, with 15 winners chosen from more than 240 nominations.

ETH Zurich and EPFL are the initiative's science partners. Companies such as the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Die Mobiliar were among its business partners in 2025.
