About Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket

Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL) is a Swedish day and boarding school in Sigtuna, on Lake Mälaren near Stockholm. It is run on a non-profit basis by the foundation Sigtuna Skolstiftelse, whose trustees are Sigtunastiftelsen and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

The school in its present form dates from 1980, when two schools merged: Sigtunaskolan, founded in 1924, and Sigtunastiftelsens Humanistiska Läroverk, founded in 1926. SSHL marked its centenary in 2025.

In 2026 the school counted around 600 students, more than 200 of them boarders, from many countries. Students choose between two tracks. One leads through Swedish upper-secondary programmes in social science, natural science or business management and economics. The other is the International Baccalaureate, taught in English, with the Middle Years Programme, the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. A middle school completes the offer.

Former students include King Carl XVI Gustaf and Prime Minister Olof Palme.
