The member firms belong to Ernst & Young Global Limited, a UK company based in London. EY was formed through a merger in 1989, and its oldest predecessor firms date back to 1849.

For entrepreneurs EY runs the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award in Switzerland. In 2026 it entered its 29th year, with categories for scale-ups, visionary entrepreneurs and family businesses.
