About China Automobile Standards Internationalization Center

The China Automobile Standards Internationalization Center (CASIC) is a non-profit organisation in Geneva that works on international standards and regulations for motor vehicles. It was set up by Chinese automotive industry organisations; one of its founding members is the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).

CASIC takes part in developing and coordinating international automotive standards and sees itself as a bridge between international organisations, governments and industry. It works within the frameworks of bodies such as the UN, ISO, IEC, ITU and the WTO, and follows the meetings of the UN World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29).

Its bodies are a general assembly, a members' council, an executive committee, a secretariat in Geneva and technical working groups. A sister centre was registered in Bangkok in 2025.

Since 2023 CASIC has held the CASIC Forum in Geneva every year, for regulators, international organisations and companies. The 2025 edition, the third, drew more than 100 participants, with keynote speakers from the WTO and the Canton of Geneva.
